It Takes Two (Artspeak) broke the heart of favourite Wilcat Rocky in a tight harness racing finish in the Preferred Handicap at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Monday (Mar. 18).
The pair raced one-two from the start to the stretch with Wilcat Rocky (Travis Henry) cutting the fractions of :28.2, :59, and 1:28. It Takes Two (Lorne House) veered off the pylons coming into the lane and went to battle with Wilcat Rocky. It Takes Two chipped away and nailed the pacesetter by a nose on the line in 1:57.1. Hollys Treasure (Dan Clements) was four lengths up the road in third.
IT TAKES TWO REPLAY
It was the fifth win in 10 starts this season for It Takes Two. The Scott McNiven-trained gelding had been dominated the high-level conditions since December before moving up to the Preferred two weeks ago. The four-year-old is now 14-for-58 lifetime and increased his earnings past the six-digit plateau to $102,021 with the win. Kimberly McNiven of Putnam and Bradley Douglas of Ingersoll own the gelding.
The Raceway at the Western Fair Districtās next card is set for Tuesday, Mar. 19. A Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap will feature on the 10-race slate beginning at 5:50 p.m. EDT.
