Fraser Downs held nine harness racing dashes on Thursday (Mar. 14) night. Gin Is Better (BetterthanCheddar) steals the Filly & Mare Preferred at 7-1 odds.
Hotpieceoface (Allan Molloy) fought hard for the early lead and forced the favoutite, Grey Sea (John Abbott). After the dust settled, Hotpieceoface paced a 26:4 opening quarter. With 12-1 odds, she continued to lead at the half and posted a fraction of 57.1. At the half, Gin Is Better made her move. She took the lead at the three-quarter mark and finished the race with a 29.1 closing quarter. The final time was 1:54.4 and Clinton Warrington was in the bike for his only win on the card.
Hotpieceoface held on for second and Mystic Shadow (Bradley Watt) finished third.
GIN IS BETTER REPLAY
Kelly Hoerdt visited the winner’s circle three times during the card. His first win was in the second race with Vintage Lass (Vintage Master). the three-year-old filly won in 1:57.0. Hoerdt’s won the next race with Im A Fireball (Domitian Hanover) and she paced the mile in 2:03.2. Hoerdt’s third win came in the seventh with Shes Bodacious (Custard The Dragon). The five-year-old mare paced the mile in 1:57.4.
