The last harness racing contest at Century Mile on Friday (Jan. 26) ended as a no-contest due to an accident at the beginning of the race.
Sporty Jewels, leaving from post six, fell while racing towards the first turn.
Sporty Jewels unseated driver Phil Giesbrecht, who was able to walk off under his own power. According to Standardbred Canada, Century Mile officials indicated that both the horse and driver appeared to have avoided serious injury.
