All horses and drivers walked away from an accident during harness racing action in the ninth race at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (Feb. 16).
Sunshineinmypocket, driven by Sylvain Filion, was flying down the stretch after sitting seventh on the final turn but found herself behind a three-horse wall as they approached the finish. Filion angled her into an impassably slim gap between Golden Leader (Travis Cullen) on the pylons and leader Sunshine Sally (Louis-Philippe Roy), and the mare fell after appearing to make contact with one of the two. P L Ooooooooooyah (Jody Jamieson), who was coasting home second-to-last, ran into the back of the stationary horse and bike.
There was no update on the broadcast, but the Woodbine Communications Twitter account tweeted that both drivers and horses involved in the incident walked away. Filion booked off his final drive of the night in race 11.
Golden Leader went on to win the race.
NINTH RACE REPLAY
The incident came one race night after Filion racked up five wins on Monday.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will race next on Friday, Feb. 17.
