Hall of Famer Alan Leavitt’s Oney Hall returned to his winning ways with an impressive gate-to-wire harness racing triumph in the $34,000 Preferred Trot at Mohawk Park Monday.
Oney Hall and driver Trevor Henry made the front from post three by the opening quarter mile in :29 with Dream Nation (Scott Young) looking to enjoy the pocket-trip.
They raced single file through the half mile in :57.4 and then in the backstretch Phil Hudon came first-over with Pikachu Hanover and started to gain on the race leaders by the three-quarters in 1:26.
Oney Hall would have nothing to do with them, pulling away in the stretch to win by three and one-half lengths in 1:54.2. Pikachu Hanover was second with Dream Nation third.
ONEY HALL REPLAY
It was the seventh win on the year for Oney Hall. The five-year-old gelding by Archangel was bred by Leavitt’s Walnut Hall of Lexington, KY. Trained by Robert McIntosh, Oney Hall paid $4.50 to win.
