Outlawguns N Roses, coming off a rookie campaign that included three stakes victories, was up first of the two. She got every call from her pylon start, going wire-to-wire in 1:54 in a three-and-a-half-length romp.

The filly won the ASHA Filly Pace, Alberta Sires Stakes (ABSS) Starlet, and Brad Gunn as a two-year-old and finished second in the ABSS Super Final. She has earned $99,890 and is five-for-10 lifetime for trainer Rodney Starkewski. The conditioner co-owns her with Clauzette Byckal of Onoway.

Grey Horizon, in his dash, took the lead coming down the backstretch and built up a three-length lead by the top of the lane. He cruised home to score by three-and-a-quarter lengths in 1:55 with Mike Hennessy at the lines.

GREY HORIZON REPLAY

It was the sixth career win for Grey Horizon, whose freshman achievements include victories in the Norm Kennedy Memorial, ABSS Rising Star, and ABSS Lone Star and place finishes in the ABSS Super Final and Rocky Mountain Boys. He has never missed the board in nine lifetime outings and has raked in $93,975. Brandon Campbell trains the colt for Calgary-based owners Jodi Loftus, Raymond Henry, and George Rogers.

Up next at Century Downs is the Western Regional Driving Championship on Saturday, May 11. The competition to determine Western Canada’s representatives at the National Driving Championship starts in race four with the card kicking off at 12:45 p.m. MDT.
