The third of the four 2024 Regional Driving Championships (RDC) is set for tonight (May 25) as Red Shores Racetrack & Casino hosts the Atlantic Regional Driving Championship (ARDC).
First post time for the harness racing card is set for 6 p.m. (ADT) / 5 p.m. (EDT). Ā The ARDC races are Races 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Ā The eight drivers will participate in eight competition races. Each race will have a field of seven, one driver will sit out in each race and each driver will drive from every post position once.
Atlantic Regional Driving Championship veterans Marc Campbell, Todd Trites, and Paul Langille are ready to compete for a spot in this year’s finals, lining up against Redmond Doucet, Corey MacPherson, Ken Murphy and first-timers David Dowling and Ardon Mofford.

Drivers will receive points based on their finishing position and the top two drivers from the eight-race competition will join six other drivers along with Canadaās WDC representative, Doug McNair, at the 2024 NDC at Hippodrome 3R in Trois-RiviĆØres, Que., on Friday, July 5.

Standardbred Canada Road to the Nationals Handicapping Show
Standardbred Canada has released episode three of the 2024 āRoad to the Nationalsā Handicapping Show. Filmed and produced out of the Standardbred Canada headquarters, The SC āRoad to the Nationalsā Handicapping Show is co-hosted by Dan Fisher, Managing Director of TROT Magazine, and John Rallis, Associate Editor of TROT Magazine.
ARDC Online Contest
Standardbred Canada has organized an online contest for the ARDC. The contest features an assortment of questions based on the ARDC races. The winner will receive a $50 HPI card and 125 TrackIT credits. The contest closed at 5 p.m. (ADT) / 4 p.m. (EDT).

SCORING
The Regional Driving Championships and the National Driving Championship will adopt the point system utilized in the World Driving Championship. Points will be awarded on the order of finish as follows:
- Number of Starters 7:
- 14 (1), 9 (2), 6 (3), 4 (4), 3 (5), 2 (6), 1 (7).
In the event of a scratch, the driving rep drawn to a horse shall drive the āalso eligibleā horse.
In the event of a horse being scratched or where no horse is available, five (5) points shall be awarded to the driver concerned. If a horse is disqualified or a horse and driver fail to complete the race, they will receive one (1) point.
In the event of a dead heat for any placing in any race, the points for the horses involved will be added together and divided equally among the drivers concerned (eg. If thereās a dead heat for third between two horses, the points for third and fourth place will be added and divided among the drivers).
