Harness racing driver Nick Boyd and Smokin Mo walked off the track after falling in an accident in the second race at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Feb. 18).
While racing to three-quarters, pocket-sitter Tour Champion (Jody Jamieson) appeared to hook his foot on the bike of the first-over Control The Smile (Travis Cullen) and suddenly broke in stride and decelerated. This caused a chain reaction when he backed into Rangers Shadow (Beau Brown), who stumbled but stayed up, and he was collected by Smokin Mo, who fell. Rangers Shadow and Tour Champion finished the race, while, according to Woodbine Communicatinos, Smokin Mo and Boyd left the oval on their own power.
Everyones Hero (Louis-Philippe Roy) won the race.
It was the second accident in the past two days at Woodbine Mohawk Park after a fall in the ninth race on Friday. All horses and drivers also walked off the track following that incident.
