Allywag Hanover led at all calls in the $590,000 Canadian Pacing Derby for aged pacers on Saturday at Woodbine Mohawk Park in his third straight win.
The four-year-old Captaintreacherous gelding fired forward from post seven and secured the top spot before hitting the first turn embankment. Catch The Fire (Scott Zeron) paced two-wide throughout the first turn and completed his move to the top after completing the first quarter in :26.3. Todd McCarthy immediately pulled Allywag Hanover to the outside and pointed the gelding back to the front, which he took swiftly.
Allywag Hanover headed his nine rivals to the half in :54.3 and, with pressure coming from the first-over Cattlewash (Dave Miller), accelerated to three-quarters in 1:22. The leader gave his opponents no hope in the stretch as he kicked away to a three-length cushion at the eighth pole and crossed the wire with a fist pump from McCarthy in 1:49.
Catch The Fire followed the winner down the lane and finished second by two and a half lengths making it a quinella for champion sire Captaintreacherous. This Is The Plan (Yannick Gingras) passed two horses late for show.
