CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Dusty Lane Milo has the biggest prize of his harness racing career in his sights Thursday evening in the $17,250 Brian Andrew Memorial trot stake at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash Thursday program gets underway at 6 P.M. with Dusty Lane Milo the morning line favourite in the race 5 Brian Andrew Memorial stake for two-year-old trotters.
Dusty Lane Milo has post 3 in the field after just disposing of his maiden status last week for the combination of trainer Ron Gass and driver Adam Merner. Marsha Knox of Stanhope holds the ownership papers of the two-year-old son of Tad The Stud – Muscle Mannequin as he looks to fend off his six rivals.
A Little Go Go is second choice from post 1 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell with the Tad The Stud colt looking for his first lifetime victory. Treasureonthewater leaves from post 4, also from the Campbell barn, with Brodie MacPhee at the lines for new owners Debbie and Greg Francis of Sweets Corner, N.S. The Post Time Picks in Thursday's card calls for Dusty Lane Milo to land on top in the rich stake.
"Dusty Lane Milo was sent to the point and never looked back winning in 2:04.1. We think Adam will be calling the shots again tonight and if they do set up shop on the front end they could double up."
Other entries are Rainbow Valley (To be driven by Paul Larrabee), Rich Daydreams (Kenny Arsenault), Camco Lexie (Brian MacPhee) and First One Here (Jason Hughes).
The third leg of the Island Oceans Trot Classic, presented by JD Marine And Diving Inc., for aged trot mares also takes place on the midweek program in race 1 and 3. Daisy River will look for redemption in the first race of the card for a $3,950 pot as the former Maritime Champion resumes her profitable partnership with driver Hughes. William Lanigan of Montague owns and trains the five-year-old daughter of Nikes Image.
Divisional favourite Hop Up is in race 3 with the Tad The Stud six-year-old vying for the lion's share of that $3,950 pot with Corey MacPherson aboard for owner-trainer Keith Campbell of Victoria West. The 16-time-winner can call herself the fastest Maritime bred trot mare ever on the East Coast by virtue of her August 13 victory in 1:57.4 in Charlottetown.
