Black Tie Bash (Chapter Seven) circled the harness racing field to prevail in the Preferred-Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Aug. 8).
The gelding trailed through the opening-half fractions of :27 and :57 set by Kinnder Motown (Marie-Claude Auger) and Warrawee Xalt (Ryan Guy), respectively. Robert Shepherd shifted Black Tie Bash out onto cover on the turn to the backstretch, keeping him third-over through three-quarters in 1:26.
The outer flow fanned out four-abreast as they turned into the stretch, and the far-outside Black Tie Bash produced the greatest kick. The gelding soared by three rivals in the last eighth of a mile and cleared by two-and-a-quarter lengths in the 1:55.1 score.
Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) finished second after going first-over. Meadowbranch Noble (Guy Gagnon) was third in the photo.
