Arizona (Up The Credit) defeated her harness racing rivals in the featured Fillies and Mares Preferred at Flamboro Downs on Thursday (Dec. 28) over a damp surface.
The mare got to the front in a :27.1 first quarter for Nick Steward and led through an uneventful second panel to the half in :57.1. In The Mood (J. Bradley Harris) moved out of third before the point and added pressure to the leader as they raced towards the turn.
Arizona chiseled out a three-length advantage on the backstretch and reached three-quarters in 1:24.4 with that cushion. In The Mood kept up the chase around the final turn and stuck with her to the finish, but Arizona was a length-and-a-half the best in 1:55.
In The Mood was a strong second over Sports Duchess (Scott Coulter).
