Arrakis (Federal Flex) won his third consecutive harness racing contest on Tuesday (Apr. 11) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, again taking the Preferred Handicap Trot.
He climbed to the lead from post seven but allowed Lilys Lass (Jeff Hunt) to go ahead at the quarter in :28.4. Tyler Moore kept Arrakis pocketed through the half in :59.3 and three-quarters in 1:28.3.
Aussie Lover (J. Bradley Harris) was first-up and grinded away at Lilys Lass down the backstretch but broke stride entering the last turn. This gave Arrakis an opening, and the gelding moved outside as they straightened for home. Lilys Lass raced gamely to the finish and Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald) charged on the far outside, but Arrakis finished best between horses to score in 1:58.2.
Power And Grace was second by a half-length. Lilys Lass finished third.
