Seven-year-old American Ideal stallion Arties Ideal reached $600,000 in earnings on Wednesday (Nov. 1) at Flamboro Downs with his 22nd career harness racing win.
Travis Henry landed the stallion in the pocket from post eight with the favoured Last Beach (Austin Sorrie) leading to the quarter in :27.1. They held that order to the half in :56.2 and three-quarters in 1:24.3 as Wilcat Rocky (Travis Cullen) trekked first-up.
The outside challenger capitulated as they raced through the far turn, leaving space for Arties Ideal to escape the pocket. Last Beach scooted away entering the stretch, but Arties Ideal tracked him down and pushed past to a three-quarter-length victory in 1:53.4.
Last Beach was a clear second-best with You Can Have Itall (Ed Hensley) two lengths further back.
ARTIES IDEAL REPLAY
The win brought Arties Ideal to exactly $600,000 in earnings in his 113th lifetime starts. The seven-year-old, trained by Robert Kyle Fellows, was a Grand Circuit and New York Sire Stakes competitor at two and three. He placed in the New York Sire Stakes Final at three and qualified for the Little Brown Jug Final before being scratched. Hutt Racing Stable of Malvern owns the stallion.
Also on the card, trainer Gerard Demers sent out three winners. His trainees Hello Rocky (Pet Rock, Scott Coulter, 1:58.4), Uncontrollable (Control The Moment, Henry, 1:56), and Tactical Seelster (State Treasurer, Coulter, 1:55.4) all tallied to bring him to 77 wins on the season.
Racing will continue at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6:35 p.m. EDT.
