SUMMERSIDE, PE – The two-year-old Atlantic Sires Stakes pacing season will kick off in fine form Wednesday (July 12) evening as part of Governor’s Plate Week of harness racing at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Prince County oval will host 12-dashes on Wednesday evening featuring the Atlantic Sires for two-year-old pacing fillies in a trio of $11,620 A-divisions.
The first division in race 3 will see Last Chance (Arthur Blue Chip – Philotes Nourir) as the morning line favourite for trainer-driver Marc Campbell from post 3. Jeff and Philip Valley share ownership of the filly. Her main foes are pegged as Downtown Tonight (To be driven by Brodie MacPhee) and Oh Artleigh (Darren Crowe).
Race 9 has a field of six A-fillies and Goodmorning Nova (Arthur Blue Chip – Goodmorning Ky) gets top billing from post 3 for driver Corey MacPherson and owners Jason Williams and Melissa Banks. Duane MacEachern handles the training chores of the filly. Galway Girl (Campbell) is second choice ahead of Shesjusmsundrstood (Jason Hughes).
The final A-division is in race 11 with Shesmytreasure (Malicious – Red Star Ashlee) getting the experience angle from post 4 after already pacing a mile in 2:00.1 in pari-mutuel action. Gilles Barrieau trains and drives the filly for owner Nikway Farms of Newfoundland and Labrador. Fern Hill Indigo (MacPhee) has rail control while Starship Mika (David Dowling) is picked for third from post 7.
A pair of $4,000 Atlantic Sires Stakes B-division for two-year-old pacing fillies will line up in races 5 and 7.
The P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series will hold its inaugural leg on the evening for four and five-year-old Atlantic Sired or Foaled pacers who are non-winners of $50,000 prior to the start of the new year.
There are a pair of $4,200 Mares divisions presented by the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeder’s Association in partnership with JD Marine & Diving Inc., with Maggiesdelight (Corey MacPherson) favoured in race 4 and Psili Ammos (Kenny Arsenault) the top choice in race 6.
The $4,200 Horse and Gelding divisions are presented by the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeder’s Association in partnership with Kays Wholesale. Middleton Terror (Dowling) is the favourite in race 6 while Mr Rielly (MacPherson) gets top billing in race 10.
