Atomic Million Am returns home to H3R

Trois-Rivieres, QC – It will be a homecoming for Atomic Million Am as the former track record holder and four-time Quebec champion returns to the Hippodrome 3R Sunday to take on the best pacers on the grounds in the Preferred Pace.

Back in 2014 at the age of three, Atomic Million Am won his first Quebec Champion Final and then returned and won again in 2015 at age 4, 2016 at age 5 and again in 2019 at age 8.

Now age nine, Atomic Million Am is still in top form. The Quebec-bred gelded son of Million Dollar Cam has been owned and trained his entire career by Alain Martin of Gatineau. He has 43 career wins and lifetime earnings of $357,000. His lifetime mark of 1:50.3 was taken at age three.

This past season Martin has been racing Atomic Million Am mainly at Rideau Carleton Raceway where he sports two wins earlier this season, but has not found the winner's circle in months.

For Sunday, Atomic Million Am drew post two in the ninth race feature pace and he will be driven by Sylvain Lacaille. They will race as part of an entry with Martin's Wrangler Cash (post 6) with Pascal Berube in the sulky. They are the 4-1 third choice in the morning line.

The favorite in the race is Farmers Tan (post 1) at odds of 5/2 for owner, trainer, driver Carol Voyer of Lac-Kenogami. He has won the Preferred Pace twice in his last four starts.

Moving up in class for Sunday's feature is Dreydl Hanover (post 3), who is on a three-race winning streak for driver Samuel Fillion and trainer Yves Tessier. The 10-year-old son of Cam's Card Shark wired the field with ease last week in a 1:55 romp.

Another standout in the field is Somewhere Bettor (post 4) for driver Jocelyn Gendron. Somewhere Bettor has won the Preferred Pace twice in his last three starts, coming from off the pace last week to score in an upset 1:55 triumph at odds of 36-1.

Rounding out the field are D J Power (post 5) and Hooter Shooter (post 7).

The Sunday card also features a Preferred Trot in race six where return winner Capteur De Reve (post 4) takes on rivals Severus Hanover (post 5) and Voodoo Man (post 3).

Track record hold Kinnder High Class, who rewrote the track mark for three-year-old trotting fillies with a 1:58 triumph in the $65,000 Breeders Trophy Final at H3R, returns to racing on Sunday in the second race.

The lone filly against older trotting mares and horses, Kinnder High Class will be driven by Samuel Fillion. Also in the race are standouts Caroluzzo (post 6) and Holiday Party (post 7).
