Harness racing driver Austin Sorrie produced an emphatic performance in the bike to reach the four-digit milestone in victories on Monday (Nov. 25) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Needing a grand slam before the card, the Freelton-based reinsman rattled off five wins in the final seven dashes on the 11-race program.
He got on the board in race five, sending Ballykeel Painter (Dali, 1:57.2) three-wide coming onto the backstretch to victory. Night Terror (Badlands Hanover, 1:58.1) then went wire-to-wire for Sorrie’s second, and Kellys Kira (Betterthancheddar, 2:01.1) journeyed from seventh to first to secure the triple by a neck in a strong effort.
In the 10th race, Sorrie sent Ashers Bader (Bettors Delight, 1:59.3) to the front and resisted the first-over Tea Toddlers Dot (J. Bradley Harris) for the entire final lap. The gelding, a full length back at three-quarters, regained his edge on the final turn and finished tough to prevail, giving the driver his 1,000th win.

He put an exclamation point on the evening by winning the finale with the 9-1 La Sun Control (Control The Moment).
Sorrie debuted in the bike in 2018 and has racked up just under $9 million in earnings from 7,879 starts. He has already surpassed his previous best season win total. He was named the Rising Star of the Year in 2020.
