Fashion Contender (Father Patrick) did not reach the winner’s circle in his first 30 harness racing starts, but the gelding now has two wins in his past two after another victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Oct. 16).
James MacDonald gave the gelding a confident steer, firing him out from post seven before moving to the lead after a :28.4 first panel. Fashion Contender led to the half in :58.4 and through three-quarters in 1:27.4, hurried along by Stormont Cheerio (Brett MacDonald) in the latter.
Fashion Contender kept him at bay into the stretch and dismissed him in the last eighth of a mile, giving the rest no chance as he came home to win in 1:56.1.
Southview Aviator (Doug McNair) finished second from the pocket. Hp Run Detector (Tyler Borth) closed for show.
