CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After winning every stake race of her young harness racing career by open lengths, Badgirl Bridgette (Stonebridge Terror) will try for her fifth straight victory in the Lady Slipper stake on Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval will host 15-dashes starting at the new Saturday post time for the Fall Meet of 12:30 P.M., with Badgirl Bridgette the top selection in her $25,850 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies in race 12.
Jason Hughes drives the daughter of Stonebridge Terror for owner-trainer William Lanigan of Cambridge as she looks to expand on her four wins from five lifetime starts. Her only loss came with a fourth-place finish in her career debut. Other top entries include Talldarklatte (To be driven by Brodie MacPhee) and Howmac Maleficent (Ken Murphy).
Lady Hess gets top billing in her $25,850 Lady Slipper Gold division for two-year-old pacing fillies in race 9. Adam Merner trains and drives for owner Groupof7 Stable of Charlottetown. The Heston Blue Chip filly has won her last three starts and is picked to win over Red Dirt Rock It (Mike McGuigan) and Muchtooyoungforyou (Marc Campbell).
The $12,925 Lady Slipper Grassroots divisions line up in races 1, 5 and 8.
Freshman star Malevolent is the top choice in a $25,500 Joe O’Brien Memorial division for two-year-old pacing colts in race 10 over Starship Slx (David Dowling) and Dilicious (Gilles Barrieau). Paul Langille trains and drives Malevolent for owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille.
Rosetown Eclipse gets the honour of morning line favourite in the other $25,500 Joe O’Brien Memorial Gold division for rookie colts in race 6. Corey MacPherson trains and drives for Rosetown Stable, Jim Gorman and Mike Gorman. Phil My Beer (Campbell) has rail control as second choice over One Wicked Man (Kenny Arsenault).
The $12,750 O’Brien Grassroots divisions for two-year-old pacing colts are in races 2 and 4.
The program also has a $4,500 Preferred Pace in race 14. Roll Em (Campbell) is top selection from post 3 over Wind Blown (MacPherson) and Twin B Tuffenuff (Barrieau).
