A decisive move in the third quarter by harness racing driver Austin Sorrie was the catalyst for Beachin Lindy (Somebeachsomewhere) to capture the Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (Dec. 13).
Sorrie allowed four rivals by from the pylons in a :28 first quarter and pulled second-over behind Little Manny (Tyler Borth) as they approached the half in :58.1.
Sensing more pace than his cover, Sorrie lunged Beachin Lindy further towards the outer wall as they hit the backstretch. Beachin Lindy soared with the open racetrack. The gelding took the lead just after the three-quarter-mile marker in 1:27.3 and sailed down the lane to score in 1:55.4.
Heza Handy Man (Michael Horner) finished second by a length-and-three-quarters, getting past Night Watchman (Nick Boyd) at the wire.

Friday, Dec. 16 is the next race date at The Raceway at The Western Fair District. The 10-race slate will begin at 4:50 p.m. EST.
