CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Beachin Lindy (Somebeachsomewhere) was intent on holding on to his lead winning a hard-fought harness racing battle in the Saturday night (Jul. 2) Preferred pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Stephen Charlton sent Beachin Lindy to the lead in the $3,500 Preferred pace striking the quarter in 29.1 over a rain soaked track with a two-second variant. Charlton then eased his trainee through the second quarter striking the half in 59.3 while being engaged by first-over No Plan Intended (Driven by David Dowling) with a four-race win streak on the line.
That front stepping duo laid feet as fast as they could for the next lap around the historic half-mile oval with three-quarters reached in 1:27.3. Beachin Lindy never let his foe around him as he surged his head back to the lead in the stretch drive to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:55.4 for a back half of 56.1.
No Plan Intended had his win streak snapped at four to finish second with Legendary Ron (Dale Spence) finishing third. Charlton owns the winner as he scored his fourth win of the season and 23rd lifetime.
