Allstar Finest (Betterthancheddar) passed all eight of her harness racing opponents for her third victory of the season at Flamboro Downs on Saturday (Apr. 1).
She sat back and watched as the field flooded into the first turn and sat ninth to the quarter in :29.1. J. Bradley Harris then pulled her out onto the cover of Big Cheddar (Stephen Byron) on the first trip down the backstretch.
The outside flow rushed swiftly to challenge Canvas Of Stars (Paul Mackenzie), who finally made front at three-eighths. Big Cheddar marched on through the half in 1:00 and blew by Canvas Of Stars as they hit three-quarters in 1:29.4. Allstar Finest, now uncovered, gave the new leader a taste of her own medicine and rolled to the lead on the final turn. She then coasted home to seal the deal in 2:01.
Big Cheddar held second. Cocktail Carol (Steve Hudon) was third.
