CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Bettor Than Spring (Bettor’s Delight) continued his red-hot harness racing form Saturday in the Preferred Pace during Harness The Hope at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Bettor Than Spring

The Trevor Hicken trained Bettor Than Spring ($3.10) left no doubt in the $5,500 featured event, taking command early and never looking back en route to a sparkling 1:52.3 victory for driver Myles Heffernan Sr. The 10-year-old son of Bettors Delight was making just his second start on red soil and improved his local record to two-for-two.

All Bets On Tex (Driven by Adam Merner) chased gamely but came up a length-and-a-half short to settle for second while Roll Em (Marc Campbell) came first-over to hold third in the compact five-horse field.

Perry Burke of Grosse-Île, Quebec, owns the classy winning pacer, who recorded his 10th win of 2025 and 63rd lifetime.

BETTER THAN SPRING REPLAY

The $4,000 back-up class saw Malignity ($3.50) and trainer-driver Paul Langille go all the way in 1:52.4 for owners Debbie Francis, Rosanne Langille and Chantel Langille. Elroy Shiner (Brady Sweet) sat in the pocket for second with Tradition (Marc Campbell) completing the triactor ticket.

Paul Langille was a three-time winner in the race bike steering Impeccable Shadow ($4.50) on top in race 7 from his own barn in a 1:54.4 clocking and Windemere Britt ($8.40) to a win in race 6 from the Kyle Williams barn in 2:01.1.

Trainer Ashley Gamester doubled on the card winning with Laughagain Hanover ($4.10) in line to Jason Hughes in 1:56 in race 12 and a race 4 conquest with Pop The Pin ($3.90) in 1:59.2 for driver Merner.

The Ron Matheson stable doubled up winning with Rockemsockem Scott ($3.80) in 1:55.3 and The Sports Desk ($11.80) in 1:57.1, both in line to Gilles Barrieau. Barrieau scored four wins on the day as his own Woodmere Rocketman ($3.70) claimed race 5 in 1:57.3 and Nothing Bugs Me ($3.10) scored in 1:55.2 in race 3 for trainer Vaughan Doyle.

Doyle also visited the winner’s circle with Five Star Dragon ($27.40) as Ryan Desroche guided the pacer to victory in 1:57.3.

Live racing continues Tuesday evening at 6 P.M., at Red Shores Summerside.
