CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Bettim Again (Malicious) came up large in the Atlantic Lottery Gold Cup and Saucer final and now fellow harness racing finalist Time To Dance (A Rocknroll Dance) will look to get even Saturday night (Aug. 27) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 13-dash program scheduled for a 6 P.M. opening post time with the $3,500 Preferred pace lining up in race 12.
Time To Dance has the rail in the top event for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owners Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Matt McDonald of Ontario. The six-year-old left from post 8 in the $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer final and wound up seventh.
Bettim Again was fourth in the rich event pacing a terrific trip in 1:52 flat from the Jeff Lilley barn. Jason Hughes picks up the catch drive from post 2 on Saturday as the horse looks for his 16th lifetime win in his 50th career start.
Rose Run Quest has post 3 in the field at 7-2 morning line odds with Adam Merner in the race bike. Rounding out the field is Bugsy Maguire (To be driven by Ken Murphy), Moonwriter (Mark Bradley) and Mantario (David Dowling).
The Post Time Picks like Time To Dance on top.
“We loved the way Time To Dance raced in the Gold Cup trial fronting it all the way and just getting collared at the end. We’re thinking the tactics could be the same tonight so get ready for a wire-to-wire score.”
Race 8 is the Omer Caissie Memorial pace with Euchred the morning line favourite from post 7 with Marc Campbell in the race bike for trainer Walter Walker.

Long Awaited Matchup in Joe O’Brien Memorial Stake
SUMMERSIDE, PE – The two best colts on the Eastern Seaboard of Canada will lock bridles from outside posts in a rich division of the Joe O’Brien Memorial stake on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 28) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Prince County oval has 12-dashes on the day featuring the Lady Slipper for two-year-old pacing fillies and the O’Brien for two-year-old pacing colts.
Race 11 has a $27,200 O’Brien Gold division for rookie colts featuring the long-awaited stakes showdown between Malignity (Malicious) and Tobins Profit (Stonebridge Terror). Malignity has won his last five races from the Paul Langille barn for owners Debbie Francis of Sweets Corner and Rosanne Langille of Lower Onslow, N.S.
The colt has yet to see a credible challenge on the stakes trail as he won his latest start in line to Langille in 1:56.1 but will finally face off with Tobins Profit, who starts from post 7 for driver Jason Hughes. The Danny Romo trained Tobins Profit beat Malignity in their career debut on June 24 at the Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia in a $1,400 overnight event before the latter began his winning streak. Tobins Profit would reel off a streak of his own with five straight victories before making a break Old Home Week and finishing fourth in an Atlantic Sires Stakes event.
The Backstretch Beat puts Malignity on top of the rich stakes event.
“The purse, the lineup and the long-awaited stakes matchup is making this race just like Christmas in August. Malignity has been exceptional so far in his career, but the win streak could easily end today. Either way this guy looks like a real champion and won’t give up the fight easily. If you’re a race fan, don’t miss this dash.”
Race 3 is the lone $13,600 Grassroots division of the O’Brien stake for two-year-old colts.
The Lady Slipper for rookie fillies has $17,100 Gold divisions in race 8 and 12.
Our Girl Annie (Arthur Blue Chip) has a three-race undefeated streak on the line in race 12 with Corey MacPherson aboard for trainer Eddy Doucette from post 6.
Race 8 will see Rock N Roll Cays (Tobago Cays) the top choice with post 6 for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Jeff Holmes.
The Lady Slipper stake also has $8,550 Grassroots divisions in races 5, 7 and 10.
The Island Oceans Trot Series leg, presented by JD Marine and Diving Inc., hits the track in race 6 for a $4,300 purse. Jessiejesorjessica (Driven by David Dowling) is top choice from post 5.
