Black Tie Bash (Chapter Seven) rebounded from his first harness racing loss of the year with an opportunistic victory at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Jul. 6).
The stallion raced third on the inside for Robert Shepherd and remained on the cones as leader Shadrack Hanover (Samuel Fillion) began to pull away going to three-quarters. But the leader went off stride turning for home, and Black Tie Bash defeated determined pocket-sitter Getting Serious (Guy Gagnon) to take the win in 1:56.2. Getting Serious was second by a length. Crossfit (Marie-Claude Auger) finished third.
BLACK TIE BASH REPLAY
Black Tie Bash is four-for-five this year and 22-for-68 lifetime. Isabelle Darveau conditions the five-year-old gelding, who has earned $177,608 in his career, for Shepherd.
Shepherd went on to take a driving triple on the evening.
Rideau Carleton Raceway will continue racing on Sunday, Jul. 9 at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
