After four straight place finishes, Black Tie Bash (Chapter Seven) passed every harness racing rival to capture the Preferred-Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Sep. 26).
Robert Shepherd pulled the gelding back to seventh off the gate, where Black Tie Bash remained through :27.3 and :56.1 fractions. He peeled off the pylons third-over as the field came down the backstretch towards three-quarters in 1:25.2. The gelding dashed into open space on the final turn and exploded with trot, blasting past every rival to a two-and-a-half-length victory in 1:55.3. Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) closed for second, followed by The Great Emotion (Pascal Berube).
