Black Tie Bash (Chapter Seven) increased his yearly tally to six with a convincing harness racing victory in the Preferred-Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Robert Shepherd got him to the front in a :27.4 first-quarter blitz and controlled the tempo to :57.2 and 1:25.4 middle splits. Raising Rusty’s (Stephane Pouliot) first-up move was never threatening, and Black Tie Bash motored clear on the last turn. The gelding cruised home to a two-and-three-quarter-length victory in 1:54.3. Duke Lavictoire (Pascal Berube) was a clear second-best. Fix A Drink finished third.

BLACK TIE BASH REPLAY

Black Tie Bash is now six-for-10 this season and 24-for-73 lifetime with $191,308 lifetime. Isabelle Darveau trains the five-year-old for Shepherd.

Shepherd and Berube both won three races on the night.

The next card at Rideau Carleton Raceway is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 20. The first race will start at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
