Black Tie Bash (Chapter Seven) increased his yearly tally to six with a convincing harness racing victory in the Preferred-Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Robert Shepherd got him to the front in a :27.4 first-quarter blitz and controlled the tempo to :57.2 and 1:25.4 middle splits. Raising Rustyās (Stephane Pouliot) first-up move was never threatening, and Black Tie Bash motored clear on the last turn. The gelding cruised home to a two-and-three-quarter-length victory in 1:54.3. Duke Lavictoire (Pascal Berube) was a clear second-best. Fix A Drink finished third.
