D Gs Tesla (Shadow Play) and Angostura Hanover (Betting Line) captured the opening harness racing divisions of the Blizzard Series for three- and four-year-old pacing fillies and mares at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Feb. 1).
D Gs Tesla shocked at 25-1 in the first split as she vaulted to the front from the pocket and held off all late challengers to win in 1:55.3. The mare, driven by Sylvain Filion, went off at 25-1 in her first win of the season. Shayne Barrington trains her for Daniel Suprenant, Guylaine Fortin, and Imagine Stable.
D GS TESLA REPLAY
Angostura Hanover performed as expected in the second division, rolling three-wide on the final turn and marching to victory in 1:54.2 as the odds-on favourite. The Kyle Fellows-trained mare upped her career tallies to 20 starts, six wins, and $65,592 in earnings with the victory. It was the four-year-oldās first tally of the season in her second start for owners Dr. Peter Johnston, Cavan Monaghan, and Craig Watkins.
ANGOSTURA REPLAY
The Blizzard Series, initially scheduled to start last week, will have another preliminary round before the $30,000A final.
