Blood Money rebounded from last week’s loss and notched his fifth win of 2021 at Exhibition Park on Saturday in the track’s feature pace with a last-to-first move.
He trailed to the throughout the first quarter mile – timed in :28.1 – in the field of four. Driver and owner Mitchell Downey had the horse in the two-path at the half in :58, and they were third on the outside as they completed the third station in 1:27.
Blood Money passed the top two in the stretch to score in 1:57.1. Woodmere Ideal Art (Robert Laffin) conceded the lead late and finished second. Thankyouallmyfans (John Davidson Sr.) was third. Blood Money paid $3.80 to win.
Blood Money, a five-year-old Sweet Lou stallion, has now won five of seven starts this season and 14 of 40 lifetime. He has a bankroll of more than $435,000. Ellen Stevenson trains for Downey, a resident of Saint John.
Downey and Stevenson also won with Fall Bliss (1:58) in the fourth.
Exhibition Park will return on Saturday, Jun. 26 at 1:00 p.m. ADT.
