Blood Money, undefeated since arriving in the province of New Brunswick, will look to run his win streak to three on Saturday afternoon in harness racing action atĀ ExhibitionĀ Park RacewayĀ presented byĀ Horse Racing New Brunswick.
Purchased last season by Dr. Mitchell Downey of Saint John, N.B the five-year old pacer byĀ Sweet LouĀ has been dominant in his first two outings so far. His first win came in the first card of the season as he scored an easy victory in 1:59.
Last week, the speedy pacer was back in the winners circle as he cruised his last half in :58.1 stopping the clock in 1:59.1, This week, he has been assigned the outside post five in the featured $ 1600 race six.
Blood Money sports a lifetime mark of 1:50 taken over a five-eighths track, and has charted miles in his career of sub 1:50. He has lifetime earnings just north of $430,000.
It appears his most serious threat comes in the form of Woodmere Ideal Art, who was a bang up second to Blood Money two-weeks ago and will be looking to pose the looming threat to the win streak. Sifroi Melanson of Greater Lakeburn, N,B owns and trains Woodmere Ideal Art, a finalist in last year’s Gold Cup & Saucer classic in P.E.I.
Other starters include the season’s record holder Little Manny who turned in a gigantic performance last week as he cruised to a 1:58.4 victory for co-owner and driver Stephen Trites and co-owners Dean & Brad McLaughlin, Mark Taylor of Fredericton.
Meanwhile, the Autumn Gold Series continues which was created and sponsored by Horse Racing New Brunswick. Horses accumulate points per start this season at Exhibition Park Raceway, and the top point getters get a chance at some lucrative purses later this season. No surprise that Blood Money leads the standings after week two.
Saturday’s race card gets underway at 1:00 P.M. Horseplayers can watch and wager off-track. For more information visit the officialĀ website of Horse Racing New Brunswick atĀ http://www.horseracingnb.com
