CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Blood Money (Sweet Lou) provided a mild harness racing upset in the Sunday afternoon Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as part of Gilles Barrieau driving triple.
Barrieau placed the Ron Matheson trainee on the front end in the $4,500 featured pace over a snowy track and the son of Sweet Lou responded with splits of 30, 58.3, 1:27.4 and 1:57.1 to win over Roll Em (Driven by Marc Campbell) and Rollwithhottytoddy (Myles Heffernan Sr.). Dr. Mitchell Downey of New Brunswick owns the winning pacer who paid $15.60 to win.
Barrieau also scored driving victories with Silver Spirit (1:58.4) for trainer Tammy Collings in race 10 and with Sensational Gal (1:59.1) for trainer Nicholas Oakes in race 4.
The Adam Merner stable doubled up for the ownership team of Dale, Ronnie and Melissa Rennie with Impeccable Shadow (1:59) in race 9 and Nolans Magic Shui (1:58.2) in the race 12 finale, both with Merner at the lines.
