After taking over control of the race at the half mile, Blue Bayou Deo found another gear in the stretch and scored a romp in winning her 2022 harness racing debut at Woodbine Mohawk Park Thursday.
The third race $18,000 trot saw Big Miles and driver Sylvain Filion leave quickly from post seven to take the early lead with Blue Bayou Deo and driver James MacDonald grabbing the two-hold seat.
That lead only lasted until the opening quarter mile in :29.3 as the race favorite Devereux Seelster was floated on the outside by driver Trevor Henry and they turned down a tuck to go after the lead and take command before the half mile in :59.2.
Then in the backstretch it was Maple Leaf Bound and driver Austin Sorrie came charging first-over and led the field at the three-quarters in 1:29 and the action was not yet over.
Coming down the stretch, MacDonald moved Blue Bayou Deo to the outside and the filly took off, motoring away from the field to win by four and one-half lengths in 1:57.3. Deverux Seelster was second with Maple Leaf Bound third.

It was the first start of the season for Blue Bayou Deo, a three-year-old filly by Trixton, trained by Dominic Gladu for Thestable Blue Bayou Deo of Guelph, ON. She paid $5.50 to win.
