CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Thursday night was the Blue Knight, all night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Harness racing driver Jason Hughes, nicknamed “The Blue Knight” was on top of his game Thursday evening with a quartet of victories on the night. The Stratford reinsman scored his first win with Miss Kabana (Mach Three) in race 5 with a 1:59.1 victory for trainer Gary Poulton.
Daisy River (Nikes Image) had a front-end score to give Hughes win number two in the $2,800 Open trot in race 9, controlling every station through splits of 28.4, 1:00.1, 1:30.4 and 1:59.1. William Lanigan of Montague owns and trains the homebred. Windmeredontuworry (Corey MacPherson) was second ahead of Incredible Two (Kenny Arsenault).
His next two wins came from his own Charlottetown stable with Michele Z Tam (American Ideal) winning race 10 in 1:57.4 followed by a win in the race 11 featured Fillies and Mares preferred with a pocket riding Acefortyfour Dome (Up The Credit) in 1:54.3. It was the first East Coast win for Acefortyfour Dome with Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge holding the ownership papers after purchasing her from Rideau Carleton Raceway in Ontario. Dreamfair Zenfire (Marc Campbell) had to settle for second in the $3,200 Fillies and Mares preferred pace with Ladylike (David Dowling) third.
David Dowling posted a driving triple on the card with scores aboard Magical Cowgirl (1:57.3), Streakayococo (1:59.1) and Starshipsalicia (2:00.2)
Trainer-driver Mike McGuigan scored a double earlier on the program winning with Therealideal (2:01.1) and Headline Howie (2:02.2).
Live racing continues Friday evening at Red Shores Summerside and Saturday evening at Red Shores Charlottetown with 6:30 P.M. post times for both cards.
