With victories in four straight drives, harness racing reinsman Tyler Borth earned his first grand slam of the new year at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Jan. 6).
Borth, who had won once this year before Monday’s card, got on the board in race six. He drove former top London trotter Heavy Dude E (Holiday Road) to a half-length, 1:58.3 wire-to-wire victory. The seven-year-old, owned and trained by Natalie Elliott, is a 26-time career winner with $208,572 in earnings.
HEAVY DUDE E REPLAY
The driver skipped the seventh, then rattled off three consecutive victories. The first came with My Holy Moley (Royalty For Life), who soared clear of his rivals off a pocket trip to take a Pop-Up Series division by four-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:56.3.
MY HOLY MOLEY REPLAY
Self Made (Fear The Dragon) was his third winner in race nine as he held on to score by a neck in 1:54.1. Buck Dancer (Guccio) then completed Borth’s grand slam with a three-length victory in 1:56 in the 10th.
Borth is now five-for-34 this season. He took a new lifetime high in earnings last year and eclipsed 2,000 career wins.
Woodbine Mohawk Park is slated to resume racing on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
