CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The official kickoff of Old Home Week 2022 is not until Friday evening but harness racing action kicks into gear on Thursday (Aug. 11) and hardly lets up for the next 10 days at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The nine-dash Thursday presentation has the same post time as all Old Home Week evening cards with a 7 P.M. opening start.
You Aint Dolly (Shadow Play) is the top choice in the race 8 Cardigan Feed Services Ltd., pace for a $2,000 pot. Mark Bradley steers the Brendan Curran trainee for owners Kelsey Curran of Peakes and David Amadio of Port Morien, N.S. The six-year-old mare was a winner in 1:57.2 in her most recent and gets post 3 on Thursday.
Rail control goes to Lock Her Up (Kenny Arsenault) while she looks for her second win of the season. Dusty Lane Zendaya ships in from Cornwall for trainer Alexis Gass after scoring top-three finishes in half of her 10 seasonal starts. Corey MacPherson will drive the Gass trainee.
Also in the field are Mrs Dragonfire (Adam Merner), Elm Grove Misty (Dave Kelly Sr.) and That’s Mia Bad (Marc Campbell).
The Post Time Picks like You Aint Dolly on top.
“You Aint Dolly fired off the wings and set up shop on the point bossing it all the way to the wire. Now she takes a slight hike, and the tactics could be the same, so we say she gets the gold again.”
Race 6 is the Grant Thornton pace Steelmeatreasure (State Treasurer) and driver Jason Hughes are the top pick from post 5 for trainer Jennifer Doyle who co-owns the mare with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe.
Ms Patricia Bea (Campbell) gets top call in the race 3 Michael Roberts Memorial pace for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Bobbi Jo Matheson of Charlottetown.
The Dino Bradley Memorial lines up in race 2 and Camelot Terror has the target on her back as the one to beat from post 7 from the Chad Taylor barn for co-owners Donald and Terri Jane Taylor of Charlottetown.
