CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – In the midst of a busy harness racing season breeding mares, Blood Money (Sweet Lou) is qualified and will go behind the starting gate Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 11-dash Saturday card has a 6:30 P.M. opening post time with Blood Money installed as the morning line favourite in race 9 of the evening.
The $2,300 dash has Marc Campbell training and driving the Dr. Mitchell Downey owned stallion from post 2. Blood Money boasts 11 wins and $441,258 in earnings and is pulling double duty in 2022 as he stands stud at Campbell’s Orwell farm and will attempt to take on the best pacers on the East Coast for the summer season.
Stake graduate Justcallmedoc (Steelhead Hanover) has post 4 at 3-1 odds for trainer, driver and co-owner Keith Ford and co-owners Gordon and Douglas Neill and Ben Matheson. A four-year-old, Justcallmedoc was a three-time winner in his sophomore campaign while earning over $30,000.
Post 5 belongs to Silverhilllightnin (by Proven Lover, to be driven by Brodie MacPhee) on the heels of a 15-1 upset in his last start in 1:57.3 from the Stacey Lund barn. Also in the field are Harbourlite Jerry (Jeremes Jet, Steven Shepherd), Diamond Call (Well Said, Adam Merner) and Howmacs Dragonator (Articulator, Gilles Barrieau).
Peter MacPhee likes Blood Money on top of his race 9 Post Time Picks.
“Blood Money Has been a very good horse throughout his career and did have six victories in 2022. We’re betting Campbell will have his nose firmly on the gate and it could be a gate to wire score.”
The $3,300 preferred pace lines up in race 10 with Time To Dance (A Rocknroll Dance) the heavy favourite from post 5 for trainer-driver Campbell and owners Matt McDonald and Brent Campbell. The six-year-old has been perfect in two outings so far this season. He lines up against Legendary Ron (Dale Spence), Winter Blast (Damian MacLellan), Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) and Rose Run Quest (Merner).
