Brodys Scrapper charged three-wide to victory to capitalize on an extended speed duel in the Grand River Raceway Preferred 2 & 3 Pace on Monday.
Travis Cullen settled the gelding into fourth for the first quarter in :26.1 as a first-up Sportsline (Bruce Richardson) attacked leader Champagne Phil (Paul Mackenzie). Brodys Scrapper slid out behind Sportsline approaching the half in :54.2 and swung three-wide on the backstretch as Sportsline began to stall.
Brodys Scrapper advanced to the front after three-quarters in 1:23.4 and opened up by two lengths as he sealed the feature win in 1:53.1. Capitano Italiano (Brett Macdonald) also moved three-wide in the third quarter and closed for place. Champagne Phil got home third.

Brodys Scrapper has won 37 races in his 174-start career, and he has raked in $288,106 lifetime. Rachel Andrew trains the 10-year-old son of Mach Three; Cullen and she share ownership. The horse returned a price of $5.30.
J. Bradley Harris, Jean Rene Plante, Brett Macdonald, and Colin Kelly all scored doubles in the bike.
Grand River Raceway returns on Wednesday, Jun. 23 with an 11-dash program highlighted by another Preferred 2 & 3 event. The card will kick off at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
