Brodys Scapper (Mach Three) scored his 60th lifetime win and sixth of the year Thursday (Feb. 29) evening at Flamboro Downs.
Jason Ryan found the 13-year-old gelding space in the three-hole at the quarter pole, where they sat comfortably until the half-mile station in 57.1. It was time for Ryan and Brodys Scrapper to make a move as the field of six went into the clubhouse turn. He took the lead before straightening down the backstretch and was virtually untouched for the rest of the mile. This would be Ryanās only visit to the winnerās circle on the card.
My Land tried to rally late but ran out of track and finished second. St Lads Flirt finished roughly five lengths back in third.
BRODYS SCRAPPER REPLAY
Brodys Scrapper has now won six of his eight starts this year, most of which came under trainer Jodie Cullen. However, after his last start, he was claimed by Jimmy Polifroni and was put under trainer Isaac Waxman for this race. Brodys Scrapper is a hot commodity as he was claimed again, but this time by Francis Guillemette.
Samuel Fillion and Travis Henry were the only drivers to get multiple wins on the card. Fillion steered the three-year-old pacing gelding Farmers Beach (Sunshine Beach) to a 2:02 victory in the third race. He was also aboard Instantaneous (Always B Miki) for 1:55.2 miles in the ninth.
Henry earned his first win of the night in the eighth race with a 2:01.2 effort from Lions Wish NL (Muscle Mass). He also won the tenth race with the pacer Restive Spirit (Mcwicked).
Flamboro Downs continues its racing schedule on Saturday, Mar. 2, at 6:35 p.m. EST.
