Brodys Scrapper is as sharp as ever after 177 harness racing contests.
The 10-year-old son of Mach Three matched his lifetime mark of 1:51 on Tuesday as he took the Preferred 2 Pace at Georgian Downs.
He outsprinted four of five opponents at the start, landing the pocket spot as fellow journeyman Ideal Jet (Nick Boyd) launched to the front. Ideal Jet soared through the first quarter to a :26.4 time and kept the throttle pushed forward as the field of six blazed to the half in :54.3. American Wiggle (Brett Macdonald) advanced first-over from fourth on the backstretch and forced Travis Cullen to activate Brodys Scrapper at five-eighths.
Brodys Scrapper dispatched Ideal Jet quickly after finishing three quarters in 1:22.2, and the former carved out a two-length advantage on the final turn. Brodys Scrapper then paced strongly to the finish and stopped the clock in 1:51 for the third time in his career. Brave World (Travis Henry) slid out of the three-hole while turning for home and trailed the leader by a length and three quarters in second. Sir Pugsley (Patrick Shepherd) out-finished tired foes and took show.
