SUMMERSIDE, PE – With a slew of top-class victories on his resume, Brookdale Johnny (Rockin In Heaven) will look for one more on the final harness racing program of the season Tuesday at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The 11-dash Tuesday presentation will get underway at 6 P.M., with Brookdale Johnny drawing post 5 in the race 10 top event for $3,400.
Paul Langille drives the Phil Sizer trainee for owners Doug Polley Jr., and Doug Polley Sr., of Amherst, N.S., after scoring 10 victories this season between Ontario and P.E.I. He charged home to win this class last week after sitting last the majority of the mile.
American Risk (To be driven by Corey MacPherson) has rail control as he ships in from Truro Raceway for trainer George Rennison. Post 2 belongs to Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy) for conditioner Paul Biggar while Howmac Charmer (Darren Crowe) holds down post 3 from the Kyle Williams barn.
First Glance is the morning line favourite from post 4 with David Dowling in the seat for trainer Jennifer Doyle.
The Backstretch Beat likes Brookdale Johnny on top.
“Brookdale Johnny has a terrific finishing kick as he showed closing in 29.1 last week over less than ideal conditions. The Sizer barn has been hot and this guy has all kinds of top-class credits to his name this season. We say they close out the 2024 season at Red Shores Summerside on top.”
Doyle will attempt a ‘hail mary’ after being completely out of contention all season for leading trainer at Red Shores Summerside. The Earnscliffe horsewoman has drawn herself into striking distance for the honour in recent weeks with 13 wins in the highly competitive training race. Phil Sizer is in a tie with Williams for first place with 16 wins, followed by Rick Armstrong and Joe Baxter with 15 victories. Earl Watts sits fifth with 14 wins followed by Doyle, who has six starters on the program.
The driver’s race was determined long ago with Dowling running away with the honour at 62 wins in 2024 at Red Shores Summerside. MacPherson is second at 43 wins while Ken Murphy has 31 winners and Langille made 29 trips to the winner’s circle.
Race 1 is the Brock’s Fortune Retirement Pace, with the Red Shores Pace in race 3 and the Wendell Wallace Memorial in race 5.
