The Hippodrome 3R’s leading harness racing drivers, Stephane Brosseau and Pascal Berube, both won one of the co-feature races Friday (July 7).
Brosseau started off the twilight card winning the 1st race co-feature pace with the 9/5 race favorite Goldinthebadlands (Badlands Hanover).
Goldinthebadlands came first-over before the quarter pole and had the lead before the half mile. From there he held the field at bay and won by one length in 1:56.4. Pocket-sitting Lucky Leonard (Marie-Claude Auger) was second with Super FM (Pascal Berube) third.
It was the third win this season for Goldinthebadlands. The eight-year-old gelding is trained by Marc-Andre Simoneau, who co-owns the horse with the Desjardins Noreau Stable and Jean Fontaine. He paid $5.90 to win.
GOLDINTHEBADLANDS REPLAY
In the 3rd race co-feature trot, it all belonged to Goaltender (Wheeling N Dealin) and driver Pascal Berube. They went off as the 8/5 favorite and wound up getting parked out by Bonfire Bash (Francis Picard) from the opening quarter until the three-quarters when Goaltender was able to clear to the lead.
Goaltender and Berube then started to pull away from the field in dramatic style, winning by three and one-half lengths in 1:59.3. La Bromontoise (Jerome Lombart) was second with Bonfire Bash third.
It was the second win this year for Goaltender, who is trained by Andre Champagne for owner Francois Morin. He paid $5.50 to win.
