Journeyman harness racing gelding Bugsy Magure (Bettors Delight) took his 52nd career victory on Wednesday (Nov. 29) at Flamboro Downs.
He defied hard-leaving longshot Century Gigalo (Ondrej Gois) to take the lead, then cut fractions of :28, :58.2, and 1:27.2 for Austin Sorrie. The first-over Millenium Seelster (Daryl Thiessen) could make no impact, and Century Gigalo came up flat from the pocket as Bugsy Maquire finished strongly to score in 1:55.3. Century Gigalo was a length-and-three-quarters adrift in second. Millenium Seelester finished third.
BUGSY MAGUIRE REPLAY
It was Bugsy Maguireās seventh win of the season in 40 starts. The 2020 P.E.I. Governorās Plate winner is now 52-for-222 lifetime, and the Wednesday victory upped his lifetime earnings to $350,112. Rachel Andrew trains the nine-year-old gelding for Sorrie, who owns him.
Sorrie was also the dayās top driver with three tallies on the 10-race program.
Flamboro Downs will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6:35 p.m. EST.
