SUMMERSIDE, PE – Bugsy Maguire (Bettors Delight) had to do it the hard way but he delivered on his post time promise while winning the featured harness racing pace on Labour Day Monday (Sep. 5) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Under the command of rookie driver Damian MacLellan, Bugsy Maguire left out from post 5 in the $3,200 featured pace and was parked out the first quarter set up by Screen Test (Driven by Corey MacPherson) in 27.2. MacLellan then eased his charge to the lead with Screen Test content to sit second going to the half of 56.1 before three-quarters were reached in 1:25.4.
His Boy Elroy (Jason Hughes) tried his luck first-over during the final lap but fell one-and-a-half lengths short to Bugsy Maguire in 1:55.2 with third going to Screen Test.

BUGSY MAGUIRE REPLAY
The Bob MacInnis Memorial pace was claimed by Midnight MacNeill and driver Ken Murphy in 1:59.3 for trainer Chris Davies and owners Gregory Kirby and Nathaniel Smith of Maine.
Howmac Agustus won the Cam Trail Memorial pace with a 1:56.2 victory for the tandem of driver David Dowling and trainer Earl Watts for owner Howmac Farms Ltd., of Brookfield. Leading Summerside trainer Watts was also victorious with Rock The Baby in 1:58.2 in line to Dowling. Dowling had three wins on the day and now sits at 33 Summerside victories in 2022, one win back of leading driver Murphy.
The race 9 Labour Day Pace had Heart And Soul (Hughes) circle the field at 7-1 odds to win in 1:57.1 for trainer George Riley and owner Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside.
