Its A Love Thing (Bettors Delight) tied the Canadian harness racing record for a three-year-old pacing filly as she powered to victory in the $425,000 Fan Hanover at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Jun. 15).
She was fifth going into the turn after letting four rivals go from the rail as Geocentric (Tim Tetrick) established control at the quarter in :26.3. James MacDonald ordered her to begin a first-up march approaching the half in :54.4.
Its A Love Thing approached Geocentric on the final turn and drew level with her at three-quarters in 1:22, still advancing. She overpowered the pacesetter at the top of the stretch and powered home, stroding clear to a 1:48.2 victory.
Caviart Belle (Yannick Gingras) passed My Girl Ej for place.
The 1:48.2 mile was previously set by American Jewel in 2012 and repeated by Sylvia Hanover last year.
The victory was the ninth lifetime in 17 starts and a new career mark for the Dave Menary-trained filly. She won an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg and the SBOA Stakes earlier in the season and is now three-for-five in 2024. Eric Good of Davidsonville, Thomas Biederman of Lexington, Josh Green of Midway, and Rich Lombardo Racing of Solon own the filly.
