Jiggy Jog S (Walner) broke her week-old Canadian harness racing record as she captured the $911,250 Breeders Crown three-year-old filly trot on Saturday (Oct. 29) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
She was keen off the car and split through for third position entering the first turn as longshot Misswalner Fashion (Todd McCarthy) cut the quarter of :27.1. Dexter Dunn held her to the pylons to the midway point in :56.1 and sent her on the attack as the field moved into the far turn.
Misswalner Fashion galloped soon after, and pocket-sitter Raised By Lindy (Yannick Gingras) moved up to face the challenge of Jiggy Jog S. Raised By Lindy fought on into deep-stretch, but Jiggy Jog S was too powerful and pushed a length clear to score in a stakes, track, and national record in 1:51.1.
Raised By Lindy’s long duel was rewarded with a place cheque. Joviality S (Brian Sears) closed for third.
The previous Canadian record of 1:51.2 for a three-year-old trotting filly was set by Jiggy Jog S herself on Oct. 29. Next Level Stuff recorded the old stakes record of 1:52 in 2020.
JIGGY JOG S REPLAY
It was a fitting end for a great season for Jiggy Jog S. The filly won eight of her 13 outings, including the Kentucky Filly Futurity and the Zweig Memorial. The victory expanded her bankroll to seven digits, a total of $1,250,293. Ake Svanstedt conditions the filly for Jorgen Sparredal of Delray Beach.
The win gave Dexter Dunn his second Breeders Crown win of the evening and 10th of his career.
