Carsons Shadow circled the Hanover Raceway feature harness racing field on Saturday to keep his unbeaten record intact, and the 1/2 favourite gained every position without cover.
Bruce Richardson, leaving from post six with Carsons Shadow, resigned himself to the backfield early and dropped the horse into the trailing spot as the starting gate left. Carsons Shadow sat sixth through the opening quarter mile in :28.2 and half in :58.4, but Richardson activated the gelding as they passed the grandstand.
Carsons Shadow tore through the deficit in the third quarter and kept gaining as they finished the third station in 1:28.2. The gelding was in second as the field of six banked into the final turn, and he vanquished the leader at the top of the stretch en route to a one-length win in 1:57.3.
Acefortyfourtalon (Brett Macdonald) rode the pocket to a place cheque. Podium Seelster (Colin Kelly) dropped to third after leading much of the way. A $2 win ticket returned $3.
