Century Heineken (Bettors Delight) notched his first career Preferred harness racing victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park in the track’s $34,000 contest on Saturday (Nov. 12).
The gelding, off at 14-1, fired forward from post six, beating out Sintra (James MacDonald) and Carbine (Louis-Philippe Roy) to the front in a :27.2 first panel. Carbine then made a backstretch brush to the lead and cut middle fractions of :55.1 and 1:23.2.
Codename Cigar Box (Travis Cullen) overwhelmed the leader after a first-up march and took over in mid-stretch, but the latter vacated the pylons for Century Heineken. The gelding then motored up the inside and snatched the victory in deep stretch, stopping the clock in 1:51.3.
Warrawee Vital (Trevor Henry) nabbed Codename Cigar Box on the wire for second.
CENTURY HEINEKEN REPLAY
Century Heineken is now 11-for-41 lifetime and has earned $236,066. Gregg McNair trains the gelding, whom he co-owns with Brad Grant and Ross Family Farms.
