Cereal Killer easily bested two foes in the Manitoba Standardbred Sires and Breeders Association Futurity Final at Marquis Downs on Saturday, leading the shortened harness racing field from start to finish.
The three-year-old Toucam Sam gelding led at every pole through :29.4, 1:01.4, and 1:31.2 fractions. Jim Strikesitrich (George Isman) kept touch throughout, but Cereal Killer outpaced him in the final quarter and won by three and a quarter lengths in 2:01.2. Jim Strikesitrich was 30 and a quarter lengths ahead of Jimmydiddonegood (Glenn Le Draw), who finished third.
Marc Fillion of St. Malo drives, trains, co-owns, and bred Cereal Killer. The horse is four-for-11 lifetime. Wanda Howlett of Winnipeg co-owns the gelding.
Marquis Downs is in action again on Sunday, Sep. 19. Racing begins at 1:00 p.m. CST.
