Chase The Ace trudged first-over from the half and battled late to capture the Fillies and Mares Open Pace on Tuesdsay at Century Downs.
Starting fifth for driver and trainer Brandon Campbell, the daughter of Armbro Baylor remained in the inside flow through the :29.1 first quarter mile. Chase The Ace took the first-over plunge nearing the half in :57.3 and picked up five lengths on leader Tajmeallover (Jean Francois Gagne) as the field paced to three-quarters in 1:25.4.
Tajmeallover gave way under pressure from Chase The Ace, and the latter surged to the lead at the top of the stretch. Chase The Ace then eased to victory in 1:54.2. Mrs Suhwiggins (Michael Hennessy) was unable to pass the leader after following her cover, finishing second. Tajmeallover narrowly held the show placing.
