Owner Normand Beausoleil received a return within four days of claiming Dads Princess (Sportswriter), who romped at Georgian Downs on Tuesday (Jun. 28) for her new connections.
Brett MacDonald took the reins and pushed the mare away from post six as Shakeitifyougotit (Tyler Borth) streaked away to a three-length advantage off the start. Dads Princess worked two-wide throughout the :27.3 first quarter to attain the lead as they passed the stands.
The mare completed the half in :56.3 with her rivals single file and began to increase her margin at three-quarters in 1:25.1. She powered home in :28.4 to a five-and-a-quarter-length victory in 1:54, a new lifetime mark by a second.
Cheddar This (Jason Ryan) swooped late for second. Shakeitifyougotit finished third. The win payoff was $3.60.
DADS PRINCESS REPLAY
Richard Moreau now trains the mare, a five-time winner in 25 career starts. She was winless in her debut season last year but has now won five this season in 19 tries and earned $28,759 lifetime. Beausoleil spent $22,500 to claim the mare when she finished fourth on Jun. 24 after a huge win the prior week.
Georgian Downs will see live racing again on Saturday, Jul. 2. Racing will begin at 7:15 p.m. EDT.
